A Few of Our Favorite Things & Where Are They Now?

We start working on the December issue in late October and that’s when our office starts cranking up the Christmas music. You can often find us singing (or dancing) to our favorites. Do you have a favorite Christmas Song? Post on social media and tag us.

Michelle: For someone that loves Christmas music as much as I do, that's a really tough decision! I love "O Holy Night" because its so beautiful and what Christmas is all about for me. But I also love watching my 10-year-old daughter do her dance moves to Wham's "Last Christmas."

Yvonne: “Charlie Brown Christmas Dance”  from a Charlie Brown Christmas. It really gets you up and on your toes.

Ronda: “Do You Hear What I Hear?” This song reminds me of being a young girl playing my guitar at Saturday night masses. During practice, our music director would sing the chords— C, B flat, C, so every time I hear it, I still sing the chords in my head. I love Carrie Underwood’s upbeat version of this song, but when I hear The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing it, it takes my breath away.

James: “Little Drummer Boy” by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. I love the blending of two very different genres and performers. I have loved this song since I was very young.

Kendra: “What Christmas Means to Me” by Stevie Wonder because it’s in my favorite Christmas movie, “Elf,” and because it’s a fun and happy tune.

Michael: “Aspen Glow” by John Denver. Not totally a Christmas song, but it’s on his first Christmas album. Next would be “Christmas Canon” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Catherine: “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Frank Sinatra. I like the warm, fuzzy feeling of Christmas and Frank Sinatra’s mellow bass voice.

Lana: “Jingle Bells.” I love the lyrics of this song. They capture the essence of a traditional Christmas for me and it reminds me of the winter hayrides with friends. We would sing carols through the streets. The sound of bells delight the children - young and old.

Claudia: “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” I love it because my mom used to sing this song to us, but she didn’t know all the words (being from another country), so she’d make up the words as she went along. Lyrics were never the same, only the chorus, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

Kimberly: “One Little Christmas Tree” by Stevie Wonder. Also, I’ve always loved “The Christmas Song” and “O Holy Night.”

Kestin: “Silent Night.” Reminds me of being a kid watching “A Christmas Story” on Christmas Eve and looking forward to Christmas Day.

Where are they now?
