Sundial Splash River Float
Story Adapted by Emily J. Miranda
Summer, sun, watersports and fun! The Sundial Splash is a river float race held in the heart of the community—the Sacramento River—and the timing couldn’t be more perfect! The heat is here, and what better way to cool down than at a family fun community event that benefits local children?
Come and celebrate our local community’s river culture, meet adventurous folk like yourself, and make new nature-loving friends, especially if you have never paddled the cool, blue glistening Sacramento River! In joining this event you can familiarize yourself with the Paddle Sport Community, no paddle experience necessary. The event will be held June 16, 2018, for all paddle sport enthusiasts in kayaks, canoes, surfskis, standup and prone paddleboards, outriggers, drift boats, rafts and anything else you can paddle. Categories to register under are kayaks, tandem craft, canoes, paddleboards, and raft/inflatable. Your $20 entry fee includes a river safety clinic and priority launching between 9:30am-10:30am. The first 100 participants to pre-register will receive a FREE Dry Bag, and the first one to the end of the racecourse will receive a prize!
The 6-mile float will start at the Turtle Bay boat ramp and end at the South Bonnyview boat ramp. Return transportation will be provided by RABA and is included in the purchase of your ticket. You will have the option to leave your equipment under the safe and watchful eyes of the Redding Police Explorers. After the race, feel free to reward yourself with a delicious lunch at South Bonnyview Reginato River Access. Proceeds benefit youth focused activities such as camperships’ Camp for Kids with Diabetes, Camp for Children in Foster Care, along with Youth Recreation equipment for Redding Recreation activities.
