The Boys & Girls Club of the Siskiyous (BGCSiskiyous) is a non-profit organization that is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, that has been around for 155 years. BGCSiskiyous serves children from 2nd to 8th grade in Siskiyou County. We are located at Sisson Middle School in Mt. Shasta, and welcome members from all over the county. We provide enrichment activities, including arts and crafts, homework help, science and math, physical fitness and gardening, as well as nutritional snacks and meals, after school and during the summer. WHEN SCHOOLS ARE OUT, CLUBS ARE IN.
BGCSiskiyous provides a safe, positive environment, fun activities, supportive relationships with peers and adults, and opportunities to develop physical, social, technological, artistic and life skills.
All programs and activities are designed to maximize opportunities for young people to acquire four basic ''senses'' which help them build self-esteem and grow into responsible and caring citizens. These four ''senses'' are:
• A SENSE OF COMPETENCE - the feeling there is something I can do well.
• A SENSE OF USEFULNESS - the opportunity to do something of value for other people.
• A SENSE OF BELONGING - a setting where young people know they ''fit'' and are accepted.
• A SENSE OF POWER OR INFLUENCE - a chance to be heard and to influence decisions.
